Winter Returns

Why Can't Spring Stick Around!?

Well, after a wonderful day in the mid-upper 60's, we will be heading back to reality tomorrow. Moderate to heavy rain will come in tonight and continue into the morning. Our temperatures will start out in the 50's and fall into the mid-20's by the evening. Snow will start falling around 1pm and could be heavy at times. Storm total snow accumulations will be around 2" in the I-70 corridor with less south and a lot more to the north. Northern Ohio could be in for a blizzard with snow accumulations of 6-12" and winds gusting to 50mph! At this time the only blizzard warnings that have been issued are for the Buffalo, New York area, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them extended back into Northern Ohio including Toledo and Cleveland. Winds in Central Ohio will also be gusty and could blow snow around. Winds could gust 40-50 mph area wide and this could cause minor tree damage.

Wind chills Wednesday night and Thursday morning will also be in the weather headlines since they could drop to as low as -5 to -15! Those numbers are extremely rare for mid march and will feel extra cold after today's weather!

Our temperatures will moderate by Friday and stay in the upper 30's to low 50's for several days.

This snow event will likely not be the last. Spring starts around March 20 so just remember that IT IS STILL WINTER!

Historical Weather

On this day in 1888 the Northeastern United States was impacted by one of the worst blizzards in history!

On March 7-9, 2008 Columbus was hit by the heaviest snowfall ever recorded,  20.4"

On March 10, 2009 Port Columbus Int'l Airport recorded a record high of 79 degrees!

This shows how crazy March weather can be!
